ACME Solar Commissions Substantial BESS Capacity in India
ACME Solar recently commissioned over 107 MW/437 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across two projects in Rajasthan, India. This expansion includes facilities in Neemri and Kelan, supported by long-term power purchase agreements. The company's total operational BESS capacity now stands at nearly 5 GWh.
ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has recently achieved a significant expansion of its battery energy storage systems (BESS) in India. The company has commissioned an additional 107.36 MW / 437.49 MWh of BESS capacity across two projects located in the state of Rajasthan. This commissioning, carried out through ACME Solar's subsidiaries, elevates the company's total operational BESS capacity to an impressive 4.96 GWh.
One of the projects is situated in Neemri village, within the Chittorgarh district. Here, 53.73 MW / 222.969 MWh of capacity has become operational as part of a firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project. This system is connected to the Neemuch substation and is backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with a national renewable energy implementing agency (REIA). ACME Solar anticipates commissioning the remaining BESS capacity for this project later this financial year.
The second project involves an assured peak power delivery system, located in Kelan village in the Bikaner district. An additional 53.63 MW / 214.52 MWh of BESS capacity has been commissioned at this site. The total commissioned BESS capacity for this specific project now stands at 159.58 MW / 638.32 MWh. This system is connected to the Bikaner III substation and also holds a 25-year PPA with a national REIA. The full BESS capacity for the entire 300 MW project is also expected to be operational later this financial year.
These developments highlight the increasing importance of large-scale battery storage in the Indian energy market, supporting the integration of renewable energy and grid stabilization.
