DoGo Power Unveils Innovative Grid-Forming BESS for Diverse Applications

Chinese manufacturer DoGo Power has recently introduced two new grid-forming battery energy storage systems (BESS). These systems are specifically designed for both commercial and industrial (C&I) applications and for utility-scale projects. The launch, which took place in Shanghai, also includes an AI-based software toolkit intended to unlock the commercial value of the systems.

For utility-scale projects, DoGo Power presents the DG2000, a product offering 2.508 MWh of capacity. This system is housed within a 10-foot container weighing 25 tons and utilizes 314 Ah LFP cells with a two-hour duration. It features an integrated liquid-cooled PCS, grid-forming technology, and virtual synchronous generator (VSG) implementation. DoGo Power indicates that projects can commence with a two-hour duration, with the option to expand storage capacity later using DC expansion cabinets to adjust duration or C-rate.

For the C&I sector, the company introduces the DG1000, a 900 kW / 1.672 MWh system. This product is also packaged in a 10-foot AC-integrated container weighing up to 22 tons, and it employs the same 314 Ah LFP cells, liquid-cooled PCS, grid-forming technology, and VSG. The DG1000 can connect with solar PV, diesel generators, EV charging infrastructure, and the grid. The system is capable of switching between grid-connected and off-grid operation in 20 milliseconds or less. DoGo Power suggests that this single unit can replace the functionality of multiple separate storage cabinets and other components, potentially reducing initial capital expenditures.

Both products incorporate comprehensive fire safety certification, including active gas venting, explosion venting, aerogel isolation, and pack-level aerosol suppression. According to Robin Zhu, founder and CEO of DoGo Power, the energy storage industry has entered a critical phase of high-quality development. He emphasizes that scenario adaptation, grid-forming capabilities, and AI have become essential for competitiveness. Zhu states that energy storage must evolve from a 'cost unit' to a 'value-creating unit'. DoGo Power aims for leadership in grid-scale grid-forming energy storage and seeks collaboration with global partners to foster industrial growth through technological innovation.
