SolarEra Green Renewables, an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services company based in Pune, has announced plans to establish a significant battery energy storage system manufacturing and integration facility. This new plant, with an annual capacity of 5 GWh, will be located in the Talegaon Industrial Area, near Pune, Maharashtra. The company intends to invest ₹2.5 billion, approximately $26.38 million, into this facility, with commissioning anticipated in July 2027.

The manufacturing operations will be conducted through Enercache Storage System, a step-down subsidiary of SolarEra. A 180,000-square-foot industrial facility has been secured for this purpose. The primary focus of the facility will be the integration of battery energy storage systems, utilizing externally sourced battery cells. A key component of their offering will be SolarEra’s indigenously developed energy management system (EMS). This EMS is designed to facilitate battery monitoring, state-of-charge management, peak shaving, and the optimization of renewable energy resources. Grid interaction capabilities will be tailored to individual project configurations.

SolarEra aims to serve both utility-scale renewable energy projects and commercial and industrial customers with the output from this new facility. The company already has established operations in solar EPC, renewable energy project development, independent power production, and operations and maintenance services. Currently, SolarEra is involved in projects under Maharashtra’s Mukhyamantry Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan programs. The proposed manufacturing facility is expected to support SolarEra's existing renewable energy projects while also enabling the supply of battery storage solutions to other clients.

The Indian energy storage market is experiencing substantial growth. According to Mercom India Research, the first half of 2026 saw the addition of 8.2 GWh of battery energy storage capacity, an increase of nearly 84 times compared to the 98.4 MWh installed during the same period last year. Corporate funding for energy storage companies reached $8.9 billion across 73 deals in the first half of 2026.
