AlphaESS has announced a collaboration with Homey, enabling the integration of AlphaESS home battery systems into the Homey smart home platform. This partnership allows users to manage their AlphaESS batteries in conjunction with other smart devices within their homes, regardless of the brand.

A significant development is the introduction of AlphaQ to the Benelux market. This energy agent utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically optimize the charging and discharging of the battery. This optimization is based on current electricity prices and the household's energy consumption patterns.

Through Homey Energy, a feature within the Homey app, battery owners gain a detailed overview. They can monitor the state of charge of their home battery in real-time, track the output from their solar panels, and understand the amount of electricity drawn from or fed back into the grid. Dynamic electricity prices are also immediately visible. The Homey platform operates independently of specific brands, meaning existing devices from various manufacturers can function alongside the AlphaESS battery.

Jef Noelmans, chief executive officer of AlphaESS, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration and the integration of AlphaESS into a broader energy management ecosystem. He noted a growing demand from customers wishing to connect their AlphaESS systems with Homey. According to him, linking energy storage with the broader smart home offers households a "simpler and smarter way to manage energy."

Using the Homey Flow automation feature, users can manually or automatically charge, discharge, or pause their AlphaESS battery, either immediately or on a schedule. The level of automation is flexible, ranging from simple manual control to fully AI-driven energy management via AlphaQ. Stefan Witkamp, chief executive officer of Athom, highlighted that a home battery can make better decisions when it is aware of other activities occurring within the home.

The AlphaESS app is now available in the Homey App Store and supports all AlphaESS home batteries. Users can connect their system by logging in with their AlphaESS account. The integration is compatible with Homey Cloud, Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server.
