HiTHIUM, a prominent global energy storage technology company, recently unveiled its next-generation integrated sodium-ion energy storage solution. This launch took place on September 16, 2026, during their "Powered Day in, Day out" event. The new offering includes the ∞Power N4.0MWh system, a 4 MWh sodium-ion energy storage system, equipped with the high-capacity ∞Cell N785Ah sodium-ion battery. HiTHIUM has announced that full-scale production and delivery of these systems are scheduled to commence in 2027.
Designed for a 30-year service life, the system provides an infrastructure-grade solution for sodium-ion deployment. HiTHIUM aims to transition sodium-ion technology from validation to large-scale application through integrated capabilities across materials, cells, manufacturing, and system integration.
Dr. Nazar Yi, Chief Technology Officer of HiTHIUM, emphasized that energy storage technologies must overcome two primary barriers for widespread deployment: affordability and availability. Sodium is abundant and widely distributed, contributing to resource security and supply-chain stability. As sodium-ion material systems and manufacturing processes continue to mature, this technology can evolve from an energy solution into a full-fledged infrastructure component.
The ∞Cell N785Ah sodium-ion battery, developed by HiTHIUM, features a 20,000-cycle service life and supports storage durations of 2 to 8 hours. This battery is fully compatible with HiTHIUM's existing 1,000 Ah lithium-ion manufacturing platform, facilitating rapid scaling up of sodium-ion production.
The ∞Power N4.0MWh system boasts an innovative sodium-ion architecture with a stacked-cell design and a dedicated Battery Management System (BMS) ensuring a State of Charge (SOC) estimation accuracy of ≤2.5%. The system is compatible with 800–1500V PCS (Power Conversion System), which increases PCS rated-power utilization by over 20% compared to HiTHIUM's previous-generation sodium-ion systems. This significantly lowers the barrier to deployment.
System architecture optimization results in a 30% smaller station footprint and achieves a comprehensive 24-hour efficiency exceeding 88%. Its hybrid air-liquid cooling mode, combined with AI-enabled thermal management and integrated meteorological monitoring, selects the most economical cooling method based on weather data. This reduces operating auxiliary power consumption by 30% and standby auxiliary power consumption by 50%. The robust engineering and pre-modularized design contribute to the 30-year service life of the ∞Power N4.0MWh system.
HiTHIUM's sodium-ion technology is expected to expand from utility-scale storage into commercial, industrial, and residential applications. The company has also launched the ∞Edge Pioneer Program to test batteries and systems in extreme environments, with the goal of reducing the Levelized Cost of Storage (LCOS) to RMB 0.1 per kWh.
