The European marketplace Solmeria has expanded its offerings to include solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects in Romania. The European renewable energy marketplace Solmeria has expanded its offerings to include solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects in Romania. This expansion follows the successful launch of the marketplace in July, when it initially went live with 25 projects in France. Solmeria focuses on various project stages and types, including ground-mounted PV, agriPV, commercial and industrial (C&I) solar, and BESS projects.

Earlier this month, the first two Romanian projects were listed on the platform. Both are agrivoltaic installations featuring four-hour storage systems, located in Cluj county in northwestern Romania. These projects collectively offer a solar capacity of 6.2 MW and a total BESS capacity of 6 MW/24 MWh. According to Maxime Courtaigne, CEO of Solmeria, the Romanian listings now also include a ready-to-build hybrid park of 55 MWp with 193 MWh of storage. The initial Romanian listings have already garnered approximately ten expressions of interest from potential buyers.

The marketplace was created at the request of developers with the aim of bringing liquidity to listed projects and accelerating transactions. Commission is only payable upon successful completion of a sale. In France, 18 of the original 25 projects are currently in sale discussions. The marketplace also entered the Italian market in September. To date, there are over 300 registered acquirers, predominantly from France and Italy, with dozens more joining each month. Experience in France indicates that selling individual projects to the right buyer is effective across all sizes; for instance, a 1 MWp project attracted 35 expressions of interest. Romania appears to be following a similar trajectory with its recent listings.
